Onsen, Stockholm
An onsen with a timber structure nestled in the forest of Stockholm. The entire wooden framework was crafted by hand, an artisanal work employing Japanese cutting techniques, executed by the expert woodworker Ruben Peral.
Blending natural materials with minimalist design, the onsen functions as a peaceful retreat, dedicated to bathing, reflection, and quiet moments. Harmoniously integrated into its surrounding landscape, the space offers an experience of connection with nature, becoming a true sanctuary for rest and renewal.
Particular attention was given to the central pillar, crafted from transparent resin, a “pillar of light” that reflects natural light and highlights the complexity of the Japanese-style timber joints, transforming structural technique into a poetic gesture that animates the entire space.
