Palazzo Fabbri, Rimini

Palazzo Fabbri, located in the heart of Rimini, has been regarded since its construction as an important symbol of urban progress. Over the years, however, several issues have emerged related to its out-of-scale proportions and limited integration with the city’s historic fabric. The ground-level galleries, originally conceived as spaces for circulation and social interaction, have gradually lost their significance and vitality, drifting away from the role they were intended to play within the urban environment.

The project proposes the revitalisation of these galleries through the use of ETFE tension-inflated elements, designed to transform the spaces and enhance their architectural and perceptual quality. The distinctive funnel-shaped geometry of these components aims to establish a visual and functional connection between the gallery and the building’s inner courtyard, promoting greater permeability and fostering a more harmonious dialogue between the different parts of the structure. In doing so, the galleries regain their centrality, becoming once again an active and meaningful part of the urban and social landscape.
